Offchain
Offchain refers to information, assets or processes that exist outside a blockchain. In RWA markets, physical assets, legal documents, bank accounts, custodial records and other parts of an investment structure may remain offchain even when tokens representing the investment exist onchain.
Why it matters to you
Most real world asset structures connect an onchain token with an offchain legal or financial system. Understanding that connection is essential because blockchain records alone may not tell you everything about ownership, custody or the condition of the underlying asset.
