Legal Ownership

Legal ownership refers to the person or entity formally recognized by law as the owner of an asset. In an RWA structure, the legal owner might be the investor, but it could also be a company, trust, fund or Special Purpose Vehicle that holds the underlying asset on behalf of investors.

Why it matters to you

Owning a token does not automatically mean you are the legal owner of the asset behind it. Before investing in a tokenized asset, it is important to understand who legally owns the underlying asset and exactly what rights the token gives you.
