Beneficial Ownership
Beneficial ownership means having the economic benefits or rights associated with an asset even when another person or legal entity is recorded as its legal owner. For example, an SPV may legally own a property while investors hold interests that give them certain economic rights connected to that property.
Why it matters to you
This distinction is fundamental to understanding many tokenized assets. The name recorded as the legal owner and the investors who ultimately benefit from the asset may be different. Investors therefore need to understand what their token represents and which rights it actually provides.
