How to read an exchange funding gap

    Set your inputs. Choose your coin, position side, size and how long you plan to hold. The page then shows what each exchange would charge or pay you over that period, and the cheapest place for the trade.

    Compare like for like. Each exchange charges funding on its own schedule, every 1, 4 or 8 hours. We convert all rates to a yearly rate so you can compare Binance, Hyperliquid and Bybit directly.

  3. 03

    Look for the gaps. A large exchange funding gap means the same coin is more crowded on one exchange than another. It also shows where the same position is currently cheaper or more expensive to hold.

  4. 04

    Remember they move. Funding rates change quickly and gaps can close. The table shows who is paying or receiving, not where to trade.

How the calculation works

  1. 01We take each exchange's next funding rate and convert it to a yearly rate based on that exchange's funding interval.
  2. 02Your estimated funding cost or income is your position size times the yearly rate times how long you plan to hold.
