Position Size

Position size is the total amount of market exposure represented by a trade. Depending on the platform and contract, it may be displayed in units of the underlying asset, number of contracts or monetary value.

Why it matters to you

Position size is one of the most important numbers in leveraged trading. A trader with $1,000 in an account who opens a $5,000 position has $5,000 of market exposure, not $1,000. Understanding this distinction is fundamental to controlling risk.
