Oracle
An oracle is infrastructure that provides a blockchain or smart contract with information from outside the blockchain. This information could include asset prices, interest rates, exchange rates or other data needed by an onchain application.
Why it matters to you
Blockchains cannot automatically know what is happening in the outside world. When an RWA application depends on external information, the quality and reliability of the oracle supplying that information can become an important part of the system.
