Asset Servicer
An asset servicer is an organization that performs operational and administrative functions connected to financial assets. Depending on the asset, those functions can include processing payments, maintaining records, collecting income or supporting other ongoing activities.
Why it matters to you
Tokenization does not eliminate the work required to operate the underlying investment. Loans still need repayments processed. Properties still generate income and expenses. Securities still require administrative processes. The token may be digital, but much of the asset servicing remains connected to the real world.
