Asset Manager

An asset manager is a person or organization responsible for managing investments according to a particular strategy or mandate. The manager may decide which assets to buy, hold or sell and how a portfolio should be managed within the rules of the investment structure.

Why it matters to you

The blockchain does not make investment decisions. A tokenized fund may use advanced digital infrastructure while still relying on a traditional asset manager to select and manage the underlying investments. Investors therefore need to evaluate both the technology and the people or institutions managing the assets.
