Private Key
A private key is secret cryptographic information used to authorize transactions and prove control over assets associated with a blockchain account. It should never be shared publicly.
Why it matters to you
If you directly control tokenized assets through a self custody wallet, control of the private key or equivalent signing credentials is what allows transactions to be authorized. Losing access to those credentials can result in losing the ability to control the assets associated with them.
