Digital Asset

A digital asset is something of value or a set of rights represented in digital form. The term covers a broad range of assets, including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and tokens representing traditional or real world assets.

Why it matters to you

Not every digital asset is an RWA. Bitcoin, for example, is a digital asset but is not generally considered a tokenized real world asset. A token representing an interest in a Treasury fund, by contrast, may be both a digital asset and an RWA. Understanding the distinction helps prevent different parts of the digital asset market from being treated as though they are the same thing.
