Trading Volume

Trading volume measures how much of an asset is bought and sold during a particular period. It may be expressed in units of the asset or in monetary value.

Why it matters to you

Trading volume gives investors an indication of how active a market is. Low volume can be a warning that an asset may be difficult to trade, although volume should be considered alongside market depth, spreads and the quality of the available liquidity.
