Tokenized Deposit
A tokenized deposit is a digital representation of a bank deposit recorded or transferred using distributed ledger or blockchain based infrastructure. It represents a claim on the issuing bank rather than being a separate privately issued stablecoin backed by a pool of reserve assets.
Why it matters to you
Tokenized deposits and stablecoins can both represent dollar, euro or other currency denominated value on digital infrastructure, but their legal structures are different. A tokenized deposit remains connected to a deposit liability of a bank, while a stablecoin represents a claim or arrangement determined by the stablecoin issuer and its structure.
