Digital Money

Digital money is a broad term for monetary value that exists or is represented electronically. It can include conventional bank deposits as well as newer forms of digitally represented money such as stablecoins, tokenized deposits and central bank digital currencies.

Why it matters to you

Not all digital money works in the same way. Different forms can involve different issuers, legal claims, settlement systems and risks. Understanding those differences becomes increasingly important as traditional finance and blockchain based markets become more connected.
