Regulatory Jurisdiction

Regulatory jurisdiction refers to the legal and regulatory authority that applies to a financial activity, entity, product or transaction. An RWA structure may involve several jurisdictions at the same time.

Why it matters to you

A token may trade globally while the issuer is incorporated in one country, the underlying asset sits in another and the investor lives somewhere else. Those connections can affect which regulations apply and who is permitted to issue, buy, sell or hold the investment.
