Securities Law

Securities law is the body of laws and regulations governing the issuance, offering, sale, trading and other activities involving securities. The exact rules, definitions and regulatory requirements vary between jurisdictions.

Why it matters to you

Putting a security on a blockchain does not automatically remove it from securities regulation. A tokenized share, bond, fund interest or other investment may still be subject to requirements concerning issuance, disclosures, investor eligibility, trading and transfers.
