Options Margin

Options margin refers to collateral or account requirements associated with certain options positions, particularly positions involving short options.

Why it matters to you

Margin requirements affect how much capital must be available to establish and maintain a position. They are not the same thing as maximum loss. A position requiring relatively little margin can still carry substantial risk.
