Short Option
A short option position exists when a trader has sold an option and holds the corresponding obligation associated with that contract.
Why it matters to you
"Short option" does not automatically mean bearish. A short call and short put have different directional exposures. The important distinction is that the trader is on the seller side of the option contract.
