Option Seller
The option seller is the party that sells an option and receives the premium in exchange for taking on the contractual obligation associated with that option. Selling an option is also commonly called writing an option.

Buying and selling options create fundamentally different rights and obligations. The seller's potential risk depends heavily on the type of option and whether the position is covered, secured or otherwise hedged.
