Buying Power
Buying power is the amount of additional trading exposure an account may be able to open based on its available capital, margin rules and leverage.
Why it matters to you
Buying power is not the same as cash. Leverage may allow an account with $1,000 of available capital to open positions worth several times that amount. Seeing a large buying power figure therefore does not mean the trader has that amount of money available to lose safely.
