Net Long
Net long describes a trader, account or group whose long exposure exceeds its short exposure according to the measure being used.
Why it matters to you
A participant can hold both long and short positions while still being net long overall. The term therefore describes the resulting directional exposure rather than simply whether any long positions exist.
