Directional Exposure
Directional exposure describes how a position is affected by the direction in which a market moves. A long perpetual position generally has positive exposure to rising prices, while a short position generally has exposure that benefits from falling prices.
Why it matters to you
A trader may hold several positions at once without immediately recognizing their combined directional risk. For example, being long BTC, ETH and SOL perps may look like three separate trades while still creating substantial exposure to the same broad crypto market direction.
