Maturity
Maturity is the date on which a bond, loan or other time limited financial obligation reaches the end of its agreed term. For many debt instruments, this is when the remaining principal becomes due for repayment.
Why it matters to you
Maturity tells investors how long their capital may be committed and when repayment is expected. Two investments offering similar yields can have very different risk profiles if one matures in a few months and the other in several years.
