Maintenance Margin Rate (MMR)
The maintenance margin rate, commonly shortened to MMR, is a rate used by a derivatives platform when calculating the minimum margin required to maintain a leveraged position. The rate can vary according to the market, position size or risk tier.
Why it matters to you
MMR is one of the inputs that can influence when a position becomes eligible for liquidation. A higher maintenance requirement means more capital must remain available to support the position.
