Maintenance Margin
Maintenance margin is the minimum amount of margin or account equity that must be maintained according to a platform's rules to keep a leveraged position from entering its liquidation process.
Why it matters to you
Opening a position is only the beginning. As losses reduce the equity supporting a trade, the position can move closer to its maintenance margin requirement. Once the relevant liquidation conditions are reached, the platform may begin closing the position.
