Long Build Up
Long build up describes conditions suggesting that new long exposure is being added to a derivatives market. It is usually inferred from several pieces of data rather than open interest alone.
Why it matters to you
Price rising while OI increases may be consistent with new long exposure entering the market. Funding, volume, order flow and other positioning data can help provide additional context. It should not be assumed that every rise in price and OI is caused entirely by new longs.
