False Breakout
A false breakout occurs when price moves beyond an important resistance or range boundary but fails to sustain the move and returns into the previous structure.
Why it matters to you
A price moving through resistance is not enough by itself to confirm continued upside. False breakouts can trap traders who enter immediately without considering acceptance, volume, liquidity and the subsequent market response.
