Face Value

Face value is the stated value of a bond or other debt instrument used to calculate certain contractual payments and, typically, the amount due at maturity. It is also commonly called par value in bond markets.

Why it matters to you

A bond's face value and its current market price are not necessarily the same. A tokenized bond may trade above or below face value while its contractual coupon and repayment terms continue to reference the amount specified by the instrument.
