Consensus Forecast

A consensus forecast is an estimate created by combining or summarizing forecasts from multiple analysts, economists, models or other forecasters.

Why it matters to you

Consensus forecasts provide a useful benchmark. Rather than asking only: "What do I think?" a trader can ask: "How does my estimate differ from the market and from other informed forecasts?" Large differences deserve investigation. They do not automatically prove opportunity.
