Trailing Stop

A trailing stop is a dynamic stop instruction that adjusts as the market moves favorably by a specified distance or percentage. If the market subsequently reverses by the configured amount, the stop can be triggered.

Why it matters to you

A trailing stop allows traders to move an exit level with a favorable price move without manually adjusting the stop each time. However, a trailing stop does not guarantee a particular execution price, and a distance that is too tight may be triggered by normal market volatility.
