Thin Market

A thin market is a market with relatively limited liquidity or trading interest around the current price.

Why it matters to you

A headline probability can appear more authoritative than the market behind it really is. For example: Market A: 62% with substantial liquidity and active trading. Market B: 62% with very little liquidity and a wide spread. Both display 62%. But they do not necessarily provide equally strong information about market consensus.
