Spot Price

The spot price is the current market price of an asset for transactions in the spot market. It represents the price of the underlying asset itself rather than the price of a derivative linked to it.

Why it matters to you

Perpetual futures are designed to remain reasonably connected to their underlying spot markets, but the perp price and spot price do not always match exactly. Comparing them helps traders understand premiums, discounts, basis and funding conditions.
