Spoofing

Spoofing is manipulative trading behavior involving orders placed with the intent to cancel them before execution in order to create a misleading impression of market supply, demand or liquidity.

Why it matters to you

Large visible orders do not always represent genuine willingness to trade. This is one reason traders should be cautious about treating every large bid or ask in an order book as reliable support or resistance. Order book liquidity can disappear.
