Short Liquidation
A short liquidation occurs when a leveraged short position is forcibly reduced or closed after it no longer satisfies the platform's required margin conditions.
Why it matters to you
Closing a short position generally requires buying exposure back. Large numbers of short liquidations occurring together can therefore add forced buying into a rapidly rising market. This can accelerate upward price movement.
