Risk Budget

A risk budget is the amount of risk a trader allocates across individual trades, strategies or areas of a portfolio.

Why it matters to you

Risk is a limited resource. If a trader has already allocated substantial risk to highly correlated positions, another similar trade may increase portfolio exposure more than its individual position size suggests.
