Order Flow

Order flow is the study of buying and selling activity as orders interact with available market liquidity. It focuses on how trades are actually being executed rather than looking only at the resulting price movement.

Why it matters to you

A candlestick tells you where price opened, traded and closed. Order flow can provide additional information about how buyers and sellers interacted during that move. Traders use it to examine aggressive buying and selling, volume, liquidity, absorption and other signs of activity beneath the price chart.
