Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD)

Cumulative Volume Delta, commonly called CVD, tracks the cumulative difference between aggressive buying volume and aggressive selling volume over time. The precise methodology can vary between data providers.

Why it matters to you

CVD helps traders compare changes in aggressive order flow with changes in price. For example, price may continue rising while CVD weakens, or price may remain stable while substantial aggressive selling occurs. Those differences can encourage traders to investigate whether market behavior is changing. CVD should not be treated as a standalone trading signal.
