Buy to Close
Buy to close is an instruction used to reduce or close an existing short options position by purchasing an offsetting option contract.
Why it matters to you
An option seller does not necessarily need to hold the position until expiration or assignment. The short option can generally be closed through an offsetting purchase while the relevant market is available.
