Accredited Investor

An accredited investor is an investor who meets specific legal criteria under the rules of a particular jurisdiction. Depending on the jurisdiction, those criteria may relate to factors such as income, net worth, professional qualifications or institutional status.

Why it matters to you

Some private or restricted investment offerings are available only to investors who meet particular eligibility standards. The term accredited investor is jurisdiction specific, so investors should not assume that qualifying in one country means they qualify under another country's rules.
