Rumour

A rumour is information circulating without sufficient confirmation from reliable sources.

Why it matters to you

Rumours can move prediction markets before the underlying claim is verified. They may eventually prove true. They may also prove false. Traders should distinguish between: the probability the rumour is true and the probability of the market's underlying event. Those are not necessarily the same question.
