R Multiple
An R multiple expresses the result of a trade relative to the amount initially defined as risk. If the planned risk is $100: A $100 loss = −1R A $200 gain = +2R A $300 gain = +3R
Why it matters to you
R multiples allow traders to compare results across trades of different sizes. Instead of focusing only on dollars, the trader can evaluate performance relative to the risk taken.
