Negative Theta
Negative Theta means the position tends to lose value as time passes, all else equal. Long options commonly have negative Theta.
Why it matters to you
A trader buying an option needs the position's other drivers to overcome the effect of time decay. Being correct about direction may not be enough if the move is too small or arrives too late.
