VIX

VIX is an index designed to measure the options market's expectation of near term volatility in the S and P 500. It is often referred to as a measure of expected U.S. equity market volatility.

Why it matters to you

Perpetual traders monitor VIX because rapid changes in expected equity volatility can coincide with broader changes in risk appetite and market stress. It does not directly measure crypto volatility.
