Relative Strength Index (RSI)

The Relative Strength Index, or RSI, is a momentum oscillator that measures the magnitude of recent price gains relative to recent price losses on a scale from 0 to 100.

Why it matters to you

RSI helps traders assess momentum and identify relatively strong or weak recent price movement. Readings commonly described as overbought or oversold should not automatically be interpreted as reversal signals. Strong trends can remain at elevated or depressed RSI readings for extended periods.
