Peg
A peg is the target value that a token or currency is designed to maintain relative to another asset. For example, a U.S. dollar stablecoin may aim to maintain a peg of $1 per token.
Why it matters to you
A stablecoin's market price can move slightly above or below its target even when the system is functioning normally. What matters is whether the mechanisms supporting the token allow its price to remain close to, or return towards, the intended peg.
